Ray Scott

Ray Scott was born in Gary, Indiana but at the age of three moved to Monroe, North Carolina. His musical background, from his mother, and his radio connection, from his uncle would help to create his love of the radio industry.

In 1989 Ray began DJing as a hobby with his friend Fo Roldan who was part owner of WMAP 1060am, which was also the same station that his uncle was a previous owner. Ray began assisting with the Friday afternoon Beach Party in 1991 and went full time with the station in the following year taking care of the morning show and hosting Ray Scott’s Original Beach Party on Friday afternoon’s.

In 1996 WMAP was sold and the call letters changed to WKRE. Ray joined forces with legendary DJ Tom Desio with Tom doing mornings and Ray handling afternoons.

Ray decided to make the move to North Myrtle Beach in 2001 and began a beach music show on WNMB 900am and DJing regularly at Fat Harold’s Beach Club.

In 2004 Ray was hired by WVCO 94.9 the Surf to handle the afternoon drive show and also the Top 40 Countdown on Saturday mornings where he remained for seven years.

September 16, 2011 was the day that Ray along with his partners launched yourbeachmusic.com

Ray has received twelve Carolina Beach Music Awards plus many CBMA group awards and in 2004 was inducted into the Beach Music DJ Hall of Fame.
